Standards for indoor Optical Wireless Communications

ABSTRACT:

The application of Optical Wireless Communications (OWC) has grown in recent years that the full trade would benefit from common standards to that competitive merchandise comply. Standards are essential, significantly when the market expands into high-volume merchandise like home appliances and different shopper goods. This text offers a timely review of standards-writing activity, as OWCs realize their way into numerous merchandise varying from TV remote controls to satellite links. This text discusses the foremost well-liked standards for optical wireless communications. We tend to define the IEEE 802.eleven customary for optical wireless local area networks, and the ongoing standardization effort by IrDA on personal optical wireless systems. The article concludes with a discussion of the recently announced IEEE 802.fifteen.7 commonplace on visible light communications.
