Evaluating User Gestures in Rehabilitation from Electromyographic Signals

ABSTRACT:

One in every of the methods getting used over the past years to extend the user commitment and motivation on rehabilitation systems is the employment of virtual reality (VR) environments. Additionally to contributing to motivation, these systems will simulate real life activities and offer means that to measure and evaluate user performance. The use of natural interaction devices originally conceived to the sport market allowed the development of low-cost and minimally invasive systems. With the arrival of interaction devices primarily based on electromyography, the electromyographic signals of the user will also be used on the natural interaction method. This work has as goal to verify if, by using a analysis model, is attainable to judge user performance in real time through Gesture Recognition by means that of an electromyography device connected to a rehabilitation system.
