Ameliorating Thermally Accelerated Aging With State-Based Application of Fault-Tolerance in Cyber-Physical Computers

PROJECT TITLE :

Ameliorating Thermally Accelerated Aging With State-Based Application of Fault-Tolerance in Cyber-Physical Computers

ABSTRACT:

Cyber-physical systems have become more prevalent in recent years. Computer management is increasingly being thought-about for use in applications which are operationally resource-constrained and are terribly cost-sensitive, while requiring terribly high reliability. The primary approach to assembling ultra-reliable systems is to deploy large redundancy. However, the constraints just mentioned build it very tough to use the massive everywhere-redundancy approaches utilized in such ancient (relatively price-insensitive) applications as aerospace. In this paper, we tend to address such issues by adaptively adjusting fault-tolerance levels according to the current state of the controlled plant. Such an approach imposes so much less thermal stress on the pc, thereby enhancing reliability, and therefore requiring a smaller variety of line-replaceable units to keep up needed levels of reliability over any given amount of operation.
