Electrical Model of Building Structures Under Ground-Fault Conditions—Part I

PROJECT TITLE :

Electrical Model of Building Structures Under Ground-Fault Conditions—Part I

ABSTRACT:

Building structures are systems of connected components designed to support continuous persons' occupancy. The protection of persons against electrical indirect contact under ground-fault conditions depends on the potential gradient established by the fault current inside the structure. In buildings, persons are in-tuned not solely with floors however additionally with walls and/or conductive objects; so, ground-fault potentials rely not solely on the configuration and location of the grounding system with respect to the point of touch however conjointly on the construction sort of the structure and on the floor material. In this paper, through each analytical models and field measurements involving completely different sorts of buildings (i.e., masonry and strengthened concrete), the authors have investigated the most factors that affect the distribution of ground potentials in structures.
