PROJECT TITLE :

A Multi-Channel Etched-Mesa PBH DFB Laser Array Using an SAG Technique

ABSTRACT:

We gift a multi-channel λ/four-shifted distributed feedback laser diode array (DFB-LDA) for the low-price application of wavelength division multiplexing-based datacenter networks. The gain spectrum and lasing wavelength of every channel are controlled by utilizing selective space growth and E-beam lithography techniques, respectively. To scale back the ability consumption and improve the channel uniformity of the proposed array, a planar-buried hetero-structure (PBH) is introduced and therefore the region containing the active region and the present blocking structures are etched in a mesa type (i.e., an etched mesa PBH). From this study, it was found that an eight-channel three hundred-μm -long anti-reflection (AR) λ/four-shifted DFB-LDA has a threshold current of 10 mA, ±1.five mA, and a aspect mode suppression ratio of over fifty dB for all channels. A transmission take a look at for this LDA showed a transparent eye opening with a dynamic ratio of over four.5 dB at ten Gb/s, and an influence penalty of but two dB after a 2-km transmission.
