Analytical Modeling of Multipath TCP Over Last-Mile Wireless - 2017

PROJECT TITLE :

Analytical Modeling of Multipath TCP Over Last-Mile Wireless - 2017

ABSTRACT:

We tend to develop a comprehensive analytical model for multiple long-lived multipath Transmission Management Protocol (TCP) connections downloading content from an overseas server within the Internet using parallel paths with Wi-Fi and cellular last-miles. This is the primary analytical model developed within the literature that captures the coupling between the paths through heterogeneous wireless networks where the coupling arises because of the multipath TCP coupled congestion control protocol. The model conjointly takes under consideration the impact of the shared nature of the wireless medium and the finite access purpose (AP) buffer within the Wi-Fi last-mile. The accuracy of the proposed model is demonstrated via intensive ns-2 simulations. Furthermore, we have a tendency to discover a brand new type of throughput unfairness among the competing regular and multipath TCP connections probing the identical AP with a droptail buffer; the regular TCP connections essentially steal almost all the Wi-Fi bandwidth removed from the multipath TCP connections. To tackle this drawback, we tend to gift two simple solutions utilizing our analytical model and achieve fairness.
