Spectral control of asymmetric-waveguide large signal modulated diode lasers for non-linear applications

PROJECT TITLE :

Spectral control of asymmetric-waveguide large signal modulated diode lasers for non-linear applications

ABSTRACT:

The ways of optimising the spectral linewidth of gain-switched uneven waveguide lasers with a giant effective spot size for applications in non-linear optics are discussed. Theoretical analysis and comparison of different schemes of spectral narrowing for non-linear applications is presented, and the ways in which of maximising the performance improvement offered by the big effective spot size are compared. It's shown that, whereas customised single-frequency lasers are the foremost efficient in generating the non-linear signal, Fabry-Perot lasers operated in self-seeded gain-switched or external cavity mode locked regime are also capable of mixing the benefits of the massive effective spot size with a spectral linewidth at intervals the tolerances provided by the spectral acceptance of typical non-linear parts.
